Designed in 1950 by Swedish-American design icon, Greta Grossman.
One of Grossman’s most recognizable designs, the Cobra lamp is a recipient of the Good Design Award and has been displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

With a profile inspired by the flared hood of a cobra, the lamp has a flexible tubular arm and an oval shade that rotates 360 degrees to direct light where needed. On/off switch located on lamp base.

Today, the lamp is manufactured in Denmark by Gubi – a Copenhagen-based purveyor of both historic and contemporary design. Certified authentic and produced to Grossman’s original specifications.

About the Designer
Greta Grossman
Sweden
A Swedish native who immigrated to Los Angeles in the 1940s, designer Greta Grossman (1906-1999) played a significant role in defining the aesthetic of mid-century California modernism. Grossman’s modernism was never cold. She combined the color and texture of her native Sweden with the opportunities allowed by the bright and open spaces of Southern California.

Grossman was also a prolific architect, known for her challenging and experimental projects of building homes in the hills of Southern California. She also maintained a design store on Rodeo drive called "Magnusson-Grossman Studio," with clients who included the likes of Greta Garbo and Joan Fontaine.
