A sculptural and playful shelving unit, designed in the 1950s by French-Hungarian designer Mathieu Matégot.
Mathieu Matégot was a pioneering mid-century designer, best known for his innovative metal-working techniques. Matégot was the first person to combine metal tubing with perforated sheet metal – a process he called “rigitulle.”

Made entirely from powder-coated perforated sheet metal, this shelving unit is an excellent example of this signature process. Its available in a number of playful colors, and can be installed on its own or in a series to create a larger shelving unit.

Produced in Denmark by Gubi – a Copenhagen-based purveyor of historic and contemporary designs. Certified authentic and produced to the designer’s original specifications.

Mathieu Matégot
Hungary
Mathieu Matégot (1910 - 2001) was a Hungarian designer and architect, who settled in France after completing his studies in Budapest. He's known for lighthearted, playful designs paired with groundbreaking techniques, including his patented use of metal tubing with perforated sheet metal.

After setting up two production workshops (one in Paris, the other in Morocco), Matégot abruptly ended his furniture-making career in 1959. He closed both shops to pursue tapestries, which he continued through the end of his career.
