A hand-formed ceramic lamp, reminiscent of a woman with her arms raised, hence its name, Dona.
"Ceramics is a wide world with a lot of history and each culture has put its touch on it. I am attracted to the origins of this technique, and how the indigenous used it - civilizations that have left a great legacy of pieces...
The pure, simple, and innocent forms are beautiful in and of themselves - I think Dona Lamp is the result of these elements. I first drew this piece on paper, and then I created it in clay. Other times I don't, I have the piece in mind, and I go straight to the mud." - Marta Bonilla, Designer
The Dona Lamp was created using a coiling technique, leaving the handprints impregnated in the clay. It's made from stoneware with chamotte and bathed in an off-white enamel. The lampshade, made from Raffia (a natural fiber obtained from a palm tree in Africa), is handcrafted by local artisans.
Designed and hand-crafted by Barcelona-based designer, Marta Bonilla.
